Babies learn to recognize sound. They also learn to focus their vision from the periphery, or the corner of their eyes to the center.

  • Babies need to be talked to

  • When babies make sounds, answer him/her by repeating and adding words. This will help him/her to use language.

  • Singing to your baby is always important

  • Babies love to listen to music.

  • Always give baby lots of loving attention. It is important to spend time cuddling and holding baby. This usually helps the baby to feel cared for and secure.

  • Babies love to look at themselves in the mirror.

  • Give baby tummy time! This is important, so that babies can strengthen their muscles. Always encourage the baby to look at, and reach for objects.

It is important to know that every baby develops at his or her own pace. I believe it is important for babies to establish a routine in daycare and at home. Sleep, Feed, and Playtime.

Toddlers

It is important for toddlers to demonstrate this at home, and at family daycare:

  • Gross Motor Skills – Which is the control of large muscles, which enable walking, running, jumping, and climbing.

  • Fine Motor Skills- Which is the ability to control small muscles, enabling the toddler to feed themselves, and draw and manipulate objects.

  • Vision- the ability to see near and far, and interpret what is seen.

  • Social Interactions With Others is important for toddlers. Social interaction, is the ability to interact with the world through playing with others, and taking turns. It is also important that toddlers know how to fantasy play.

I believe it is most important to establish a routine for toddlers. Once you have structure at home, and at family daycare, the child feels safe and secure. Children of all ages do much better when they have structure and routine in their day.

Preschool-School aged

With preschoolers, I will especially point out letter sounds and rhyming words. I will also have children talk about what we read. Writing often appears as scribbles, tracing letters is always helpful. Scribbling and tracing, helps the child to understand that printed words, carry messages

It is most important to establish a routine for children ages 4 and up. Again, it helps them to feel safe and secure.

Preschool children learn about the world around them through play. In family daycare, children, whether your are a Preschooler or Toddler, are introduced to basic concepts, such as, shapes, letters, colors, counting, and weather. Children of all ages, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, listen to interesting books, that are read by me.
